Overview
 
Our mission at Jobs Partnership of Greater Indianapolis is to bring together local churches and businesses of greater Indianapolis to train, equip, and employ some of our neediest citizens; bringing them from dependency to self-sufficiency as productive citizens of the community and to true wellness through a relationship with Jesus Christ. 
 
The Small Business Development Program is an avenue for individuals who seek to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors for self-sufficiency. The program is designed to address all aspects of business development; including personal finance organization, business plan development, investments, budgeting, tax preparation, business counseling, and business implementation supervision. The purpose of the Small Business Development Programs is to assist in all facets of starting and operating a small business.
 
 
Goals
 
Small Business Development Program goals:
 
  • Work with twenty (20) clients in the first year – five (5) per fiscal quarter
  • Assist clients in developing and refining a sound live business plan
  • Create a professional Business Advisory Board
  • Develop payment plan with loan investors
 
Participant goals:
 
  • SBA, IBDC, financial, and tax preparation class participation
  • Secure established businesses and individuals for business investing
  • Improve credit status and savings/investments
  • Have clients achieve a credit score above 700, establish an IDA of $1000 (minimum), invest $1000 from personal savings, and obtain SBA loan
  • Create a professional business portfolio
 
 
Curriculum
 
Course curriculum consists of a 6 part training program. Materials and workshops will extensively cover business plan construction, credit development, investing, portfolio creation, marketing, business management, sales, customer service, networking, management.
 
 
Program Length
 
Small Business Development classes will meet weekly at the Jobs Partnership of Greater Indianapolis offices. Classes will run for six (6) weeks on Saturdays, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The program is a continuous process that will assist clients for the first three (3) years of their business development.
 
 
Eligibility
 
For eligibility in the Small Business Development Program clients will have to:
 
  • Have full-time or part-time employment
  • Completed financial literacy training
  • Establish a personal savings account
  • Open an Individual Development Account with regular deposits
 
 
Participant Responsibilities
 
Small Business Development Program participants are expected to:
 
  • Commit to entire three (3) year developmental process
  • Participate in every class, workshop, and advisory meeting
  • Possess basic mathematic and English writing skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and be organized
  • Be self-motivated with a positive attitude focused on learning
  • Have a respect for other students, instructors, advisors, and people in general
 
 
Anticipated Outcomes
 
  • 100% program graduation rate
  • Every program participant will start their own small business
  • Each business will be supported by a financial investor
  • Every business will operate with positive revenue earnings within three (3) years
